Hold onto your seats, metalheads and horror fans alike. systimatik has just dropped the official music video for their latest track, "SLAY", and it is an absolute visual and sonic bloodbath.
From the very first frame, "SLAY" lures you in with a hauntingly long cinematic intro, building an eerie tension that makes your skin crawl. But don't let the slow burn fool you—once the track kicks in, it devolves into complete, head-banging chaos. It's aggressive, it's dark, and it perfectly encapsulates the visceral energy systimatik is known for.
One of the most impressive aspects of the "SLAY" music video is how it was filmed. Believe it or not, this cinematic nightmare was shot entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Utilizing Apple ProRes and Apple Log, the production team was able to capture a gritty, high-dynamic-range aesthetic that rivals traditional high-end cinema cameras. The result is a raw, intense visual experience that perfectly matches the punishing track.
The visual masterpiece was brought to life by the talented duo Stephen and Heather Shatzer from Shrapnel Sound Studio. Heather took charge of the stunning cinematography and chilling set decoration, perfectly framing the horror that unfolds. Meanwhile, the heavy lifting in post-production was handled using Final Cut Pro, editing the footage into the frantic, pulse-pounding final product we see on screen.
The narrative of the video plays out like a bite-sized horror movie, featuring gripping performances by guest stars:
Seth Burbage stars as the maniacal killer, delivering a terrifying and unhinged performance.
Deidre Carter plays the unfortunate victim, anchoring the video's cinematic horror elements.
And of course, no systimatik video would be complete without the band themselves. The masked musicians—Thrall, Rune, Sever, and XXV—deliver a ferocious performance from the shadows, bathed in strobes and eerie colored lights, providing the ultimate sinister backdrop to the unfolding carnage.
"SLAY" isn't just a music video; it's a statement. It proves that with the right creative vision (and some killer iPhone tech), you can create a truly face-melting experience.
